According to new data published by analytics firm Adobe, online shoppers spent more during the two-day event than they did during the comparable sales window held on Oct. 7 and 8 the previous year, highlighting a growing consumer appetite for early-season autumn promotions.

The mid-autumn shopping event, which fell on a Tuesday and Wednesday in both 2025 and 2026, generated $9.86 billion in total online spending at U.S. retailers during its latest iteration. Adobe’s comprehensive data tracking is built on direct transactions across the web, capturing a massive scope of digital consumer behavior that includes more than 1 trillion visits to U.S. retail websites, 100 million distinct stock-keeping units (SKUs), and 18 diverse product categories.

The scale of the retail ecosystem analyzed by Adobe underscores the breadth of the digital marketplace. More than 200 of the Top 2000 largest online retailers utilized Adobe for their web analytics in 2025, collectively accounting for more than $836 billion in overall ecommerce sales that year. Within these industry benchmarks, Amazon maintains a dominant position, ranking No. 1 in Digital Commerce 360’s Top 2000 Database—a comprehensive industry index that tracks the largest North American online retailers by their annual ecommerce revenue. Furthermore, Amazon holds the No. 3 spot in Digital Commerce 360’s Global Online Marketplaces Database, which evaluates the 100 largest global marketplaces based on third-party gross merchandise value.

How much did consumers spend during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days in October?

The financial momentum behind the October sales event was clear across the board. Online sales at U.S. retailers increased by 8.5% year over year while Amazon Prime Big Deal Days was actively underway in 2026. As the total expenditure climbed to $9.86 billion, the rate of increase also accelerated compared to the previous year. In 2025, sales during the equivalent two-day event were up by 7.3%, reaching a total of $9.09 billion.

Industry analysts at Adobe view this consistent, heightened consumer activity as a powerful signal for the broader retail sector. The strong performance is expected to encourage retailers of all sizes to invest heavily in earlier pre-holiday promotions than they might otherwise have scheduled, shifting the traditional holiday shopping timeline even further into the fall.

Retailers fueled this surge by offering aggressive discounts, which reached a peak of 20% off listed prices across participating platforms, according to Adobe’s tracking. As these price reductions took effect, the deepest discounts were heavily concentrated in high-demand merchandise categories, including computers, televisions, consumer electronics, toys, and apparel.

Within these specific sectors, certain product categories experienced extraordinary sales spikes. Electronics sales jumped significantly, rising by 85% compared to average sales levels recorded earlier in September 2026. Meanwhile, toy sales saw a massive influx of demand, increasing by 158%, and video game sales climbed by 90%. Personal care products also performed exceptionally well, with sales jumping 73% over September baselines.

Looking closer at the electronics category, demand for specific tech gear skyrocketed. Sales of portable audio products, such as headphones and speakers, surged by 300% compared to September. Smartwatch sales climbed 255%, camera sales grew by 135%, and smartphone purchases increased by 130%. At the same time, with the fall season and Halloween approaching, seasonal goods saw unprecedented movement. Costume sales spiked by an impressive 610%, while candy sales experienced a robust 180% growth, according to Adobe’s market assessment.

How shoppers made purchases during Prime Big Deal Days in October

Beyond total spending volumes, Adobe closely tracked the evolving methods online shoppers used to complete their purchases over the two-day sales period. Mobile commerce continued to claim a dominant share of the digital wallet, with purchases made on smartphones and tablets accounting for 52.0% of all online sales. This mobile volume translated to roughly $5.1 billion in transactions, representing a 12.8% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

Flexible payment solutions also played a prominent role in facilitating transactions during the event. Buy now, pay later (BNPL) services saw heavy utilization from budget-conscious shoppers looking to manage their spending. Adobe credited BNPL options with enabling 6.0% of all online orders over the two-day sales window, giving these alternative financing tools a direct hand in generating $692.3 million in sales. That total marked a 4.0% increase from the performance of October’s Prime event in 2025.

Looking ahead at the remainder of the peak holiday shopping season, Adobe projects that consumer reliance on buy now, pay later services will continue to expand, estimating that BNPL will drive more than $1 billion in total spending during Cyber Monday, which falls on Nov. 30 in 2026.

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days returned for another successful run on Oct. 6 and 7, setting a new benchmark for October retail spending.
