Canadian-based Pineapple Financial Inc. has officially announced a sweeping corporate transformation, revealing that it has rebranded as Pentiv alongside the rollout of a sophisticated intelligence platform tailored specifically for U.S. mortgage brokerages. This strategic pivot marks a major milestone in the company’s ongoing evolution toward an asset-light, platform-driven operating model. Rather than confining its technological capabilities to its own internal network, Pentiv is shifting its core focus to commercializing its advanced tech stack for the broader independent mortgage broker market.
As part of this corporate metamorphosis, the company confirmed that its common stock will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under its new ticker symbol, PTIV, effective October 12. Leadership believes that the rebranding and the public market transition accurately reflect the company’s new identity as an intelligent software and data infrastructure provider for the housing finance sector, moving well beyond the traditional confines of a conventional brokerage operator.
Unlike many existing software solutions in the mortgage origination space that attempt to replace legacy systems or compete directly with established loan origination systems, Pentiv has engineered its platform architecture to sit seamlessly on top of existing technology infrastructure. The system is designed to aggregate, harmonize, and unify data from the disparate, fragmented tools and processes that independent brokerages routinely rely on for their day-to-day operations.
By serving as a centralized "system of record," the platform weaves together brokerage data and operational workflows while applying advanced artificial intelligence to core functions that drive business growth. The architecture aims to eliminate the friction caused by siloed software tools, allowing brokerage owners and managers to maintain their preferred origination workflows while gaining access to powerful data intelligence layers. Over time, Pentiv plans to systematically introduce specialized applications covering the entire brokerage life cycle, starting with recruitment, onboarding, retention, and borrower engagement.
The arrival of Pentiv addresses a glaring operational gap within the mortgage technology sector. Over recent years, the vast majority of mortgage tech investment has been heavily concentrated on automating the back-end loan file itself, streamlining processes ranging from initial underwriting and complex document processing to final funding. Meanwhile, the crucial front-end brokerage layer—where relationships are built, professionals are recruited, and loans are originated—has remained largely fragmented and underserved.
Pentiv is directly targeting this structural gap by betting that independent brokerages are eager to invest in specialized intelligence tools that can help them dramatically scale their production volume and borrower retention rates without forcing them to undergo the painful, expensive process of ripping out and replacing their core origination infrastructure.
Underpinning this product strategy is a deliberate transition to an asset-light business model anchored by a predictable, growing base of recurring platform revenue. By positioning itself as a software-as-a-service and intelligence provider rather than a traditional brokerage operator, the company aims to achieve higher operating margins and greater scalability. Furthermore, Pentiv’s forward-looking digital asset treasury and broader treasury strategy are intentionally designed to support a long-term convergence thesis. The company anticipates that artificial intelligence and on-chain finance will eventually merge, and its treasury approach is meant to provide economic exposure to the underlying blockchain infrastructure that the firm expects its future financial workflows to increasingly rely upon.
Usman Maher Named to Leadership Roles
To help steer this ambitious operational and strategic transformation, Pentiv announced the appointment of Usman Maher as its new chief financial officer and chief strategy officer. Maher brings to the executive team more than a decade of high-level experience spanning private equity, special situations credit, and high-growth financial technology companies.
Prior to taking on his new dual roles at Pentiv, Maher served as the senior director of strategic finance at SoFi. During his tenure there, he was instrumental in building out the comprehensive finance function for the company’s member platform, successfully scaling it into a meaningful and reliable contributor to the broader firm’s profit-and-loss model. In his new capacity at Pentiv, Maher will take full ownership of financial operations and strategic direction. His extensive portfolio of responsibilities will include overseeing platform strategy, capital allocation, rigorous financial reporting, corporate governance, and flawless execution against the company’s aggressive commercial milestones.
Speaking on the strategic vision guiding the company’s product rollout, Maher emphasized the importance of preserving the human element within an industry increasingly dominated by automation.
"At a time when many AI solutions in mortgage appear designed to automate brokerage professionals out of the process, we believe human judgment, trust, and relationships remain essential," Maher said in a public statement accompanying the announcement.
"Pentiv is launching a solution that helps brokerages harness AI to compete with large technology platforms while strengthening the professionals at the center of the mortgage process. We will prove the economics inside Pineapple, extend the platform to external brokerages, and scale adoption to build a durable intelligence company and long-term shareholder value."
Focus on Recruiting and Alternative Renewals
As Pentiv steps out onto the broader market stage, its foundational applications have already been thoroughly battle-tested in a live production environment. The platform’s initial flagship tools—specifically, a Recruitment Agent and an Alternative Mortgage Renewal Agent—are already fully operational within Pineapple+, the integrated application environment utilized daily by Pineapple Financial’s existing network of mortgage professionals.
The newly deployed Recruitment Agent has been purpose-built to assist brokerage leaders and owners in identifying promising mortgage industry professionals, intelligently prioritizing outreach efforts, and seamlessly managing complex recruiting workflows from initial contact to final integration. In an industry where top-producing loan officers and brokers are constantly courted by competing firms, the tool provides a data-driven edge designed to streamline talent acquisition.
Simultaneously, the Alternative Mortgage Renewal Agent addresses one of the most critical retention challenges facing modern brokerages. The agent is specifically designed to proactively surface upcoming or at-risk alternative mortgage renewals well in advance, automatically suggest targeted outreach steps, manage required documentation, and empower mortgage professionals to retain borrowers who might otherwise migrate to competitors.
Both of these vital productivity tools draw directly on deeply integrated systems, comprehensive mortgage data, and the day-to-day operational workflows already established within Pineapple’s existing ecosystem. Pentiv leadership has indicated that the company will rely heavily on the hard performance data and high adoption metrics generated by these internal deployments. These real-world results will serve as critical proof points and case studies before the company initiates its wider expansion campaign targeting external brokerages and independent mortgage networks across the United States.
